Skills in the park
meet at Hickleys car park
18:20 – 20:00
These sessions are a fun way to learn how to improve your balance, cornering, climbing, descending and basic race skills - please register so that we know who is coming.
We ride from the car park to practice these activities in local parks.
Please bring helmet, lights (even in summer months), drink of water, small snack (e.g. banana), small rucsac, suitable clothing and a bike in good working order. New riders will need a signed parental consent form before they can join in any activitity.

'Park Ride' at Silk Mills

What is a Park Ride ? We have a circuit of 1 km at the Silk Mills park and ride which you ride around several times. It is a bit like a 'park run' and ithelps you to improve your stamina. You keep a record of your time and see if you can gradually improve over a series of 'park rides'
Registration is at 09.45 for 10.00 start.
'Under 8' (born 2011 onwards), Under 10 (2009-2011)ride 3 circuits. 'Under 12' (2007-2008) +'Under 14' (2005-2006) ride 5 circuits, Under 16 (2003-2004) ride 7 circuits.
The park run is a simple 'time trial' We then offer some skills/ fun activities
Parents of new riders must complete the consent form (click on link).

Helmet, suitable clothing, gloves, drink water, small snack ( banana/cereal bar) are needed

Canal Path Ride from Maunsel Lock

A trail ride along the canal path towards Bridgwater. We will meet at the car park at Maunsel Lock (TA7 0DH). Directions- A38 towards Bridgwater, at Walford Cross take A358 (direction Glastobury). After 2miles along A358 turn left (this is 1st left after crossing railway bridge). Follow country lane to cross a canal bridge, then take 1st right to Maunsel Lock
Please bring helmet, lights, small snack, drink water, waterproof, small rucksack. No drop handle bars.

A trail ride along the canal path towards Bridgwater. We will meet at the car park at Maunsel Lock (TA7 0DH). Directions- A38 towards Bridgwater, at Walford Cross take A358 (direction Glastobury) cross railway then take 1st left (2miles along A358) after crossing canal bridge take 1st right to maunsel Lock

Taunton Bike Club have another invitation to have a session at Exeter Aces Speedway. Great fun and hard work.
Yes, bikes without brakes!
Please note that this is a Wednesday evening and not our normal Tuesday eveing
The club are kindly lending their bikes. You will need to bring a helmet as well as wearing long sleeves, long trousers and gloves. One of the rules of cycle speedway is that you need to be covered from the neck down.
The club will open up for refreshments for spectators and riders for what will be the most exciting evening of riding.

From Junction 25 M5 go on A358 (direction Ilminster) After 5 miles take turn right to Bickenhall (this is not the first turning to Bickenhall). In approx 1/2 mile you will pass the sign for Bickenhall. We will park where the road is straight and wider shortly after the sign.
Please park with consideration for local residents. ( if you get to the livery stables you have gone too far). Nearest postcode TA3 6TS (don't go down forest grove)

READY SET RIDE - Bike Week event for younger riders with balance bikes/ stabilisers

for young riders aged 3-8 years who are using a balance bike / cycle with stabilisers/ just finished with stabilisers.
This will be an introduction to the British Cycling app READY SET RIDE which provides a fun way of improving bike handling skills.
HELMETS are essential. PARENTS ARE EXPECTED TO STAY FOR THE WHOLE SESSION. Downloading the Ready Set Ride will allow parents to see how best to use the app for their children.
Initially there are 2 sessions (10 June and 16 June) each limited to 15 riders.
Please complete BOTH FORMS: the parental club consent form and CyclingUK consent form before the session
